Introduction
The DeLaval International AB Scientific Committee invites applications from young scientists all over the globe to join the DeLaval student program and to submit an application to the Gustaf de Laval Fund for young scientists.
This year, the focus area concerns projects within Milking and Housing Cows for Sustainable Dairy Production.
The focus areas should be within:
- Milking & housing cows for sustainable dairy production
- Smart management of the large herd
- Future family-owned farm 2030 – work-life balance with smart technology
- Logistics, housing and management for the well-being of the cows and the staff
DeLaval wants to encourage and support scientific projects within the focus area which also goes hand in hand with DeLaval's goals on sustainability.
The earliest start date is 1 September 2023 and projects shall be carried out within 5-12 months duration.
Projects that will deliver significantly new knowledge for sustainable dairy production that support efficient milk production and herd performance while creating attractive environments for cows and staff will score higher in the evaluation process.
How to apply
Please fill out the application form below. Make sure to fill out your application form as detailed as possible, as this will ease the process both during the evaluation phase and when conducting the study.
Grant amount
Funding or co-funding of projects is available for up to 12,000 Euro per project as specified in the application form. It is within DeLaval’s full discretion to decide which project that shall be accepted for funding and how much funding that shall be granted. DeLaval will offer the successful applicants an agreement regulating the funding, the rights to the results and publications.
Eligibility
Grants can be given to students for material and travel costs in relation to carrying out research within their master thesis project (or another comparable project). Master thesis students will be offered to enroll in the DeLaval master student program
Grants can be given to Ph.D. students for material and travel costs in a specific project of their Ph.D. program.
Master thesis and Ph.D. students should be enrolled at a university and have a university supervisor for the proposed project.
Rights and Publication of Results
The project results shall be published in an English report. DeLaval promotes the publication of results, for example in an international scientific journal. Terms for publication as well as the rights to the project result will be regulated in the agreement that will be offered to the students with the projects selected by DeLaval.
