Gustaf de Laval Fund

Welcome to the Gustaf de Laval Fund page!

Focus area for 2024: "Innovative Milking Management for Sustainable Dairy Production Systems."

Deadline for submission of abstracts: 1 May 2024. The application form is at the bottom of this page.

Introduction: The DeLaval International AB Scientific Committee invites young scientists worldwide to participate in the DeLaval student program and submit project proposals for the Gustaf de Laval Fund 2024. Milking is the core of each dairy production system. How we develop, implement and manage milking has a significant impact on the overall sustainability of a dairy farm.

This year's theme centers around “Innovative Milking Management for Sustainable Dairy Production Systems"

DeLaval encourages PhD and master thesis students to submit project applications within the following focus areas:

  • How to improve milking management, equipment, performance and cow experience in Automatic and Parlor milking systems?
  • Labour, cows, and technology: How to build a successful connection?
  • Insights into further understanding of cow welfare as related to the milking process
  • Milking monitoring and data analytics: What information do we really need?

Projects that are able to deliver significant new knowledge within the theme focus areas will score higher in the evaluation process. To learn more about our sustainability work, please see our sustainability report.
