DeLaval Solutions Win Innovation Awards

The BCS, already a winner of the 2015 World Ag Expo Top-10 Product Awards, is the world’s first commercially available system for automatic body condition scoring. It takes a 3D image of a cow’s lower back while she moves through a fixed point. The data provides a critical measurement of feeding efficiency to eliminate the guesswork and inaccuracies of visual and tactile evaluations.

The TSR automates the application of a hygienic solution to teats individually, both pre and post milking, on external rotary parlors. This helps reduce labor costs and improve consistency with its repetitive and low stress application of teat dip to cows. Managing consumption and coverage potentially contributes to a farm’s productivity. With the ability to spray up to 400 cows per hour, it is a highly efficient, accurate and consistent way to administer teat spraying.

“We are honored to accept these awards,” says Fernando Cuccioli, President of DeLaval North America, “Our customers, their needs and expectations, are the starting point for everything we do. Therefore, we have a clear vision of the impact integrated robotics will have for producers. The recognition of theseawards confirms our dedication to the dairy industry and the importance sustainable food production plays in it.”

The Dairy Herd Management 2015 Innovation Awards recognize new products that will be game-changers for dairy producers in the areas of efficiency, functionality, and technology. Entries to the 5th annual award contest were evaluated by Dairy Herd Management’s panel of dairy farmers, agribusiness representativesand university experts. Judging was based on originality within the marketplace, usefulness and value to dairy farmers.
