High milk yield farms with low labour costs now a reality

The reasons for the success are clear: the DeLaval AMR™ system is designed to help managers of larger herds (300+) to grow their businesses through the lowest milk production costs, reduced labour requirements and better animal welfare.

“By automating milking, which is typically a highly intensive job, we reduce labour costs and improve the overall lifestyle of the farmers,” says Robert Jensen, AMR Business Development Manager.

“Typically we are noticing a reduction in the global number of dairy farmers, while the number of cows being milked per farm is growing. Farmers are looking to manage these larger herds in more profitable ways, and we, as a company, can apply our innovative knowledge and leadership in order to help satisfy those requirements.”

DeLaval AMR™ represents a state-of-the-art approach in automatic milking solutions for owners of 300 or more cows. This unique system is flexible enough to operate in different farming practices, from free stalls and loose housing to pasture-based dairying. DeLaval AMR™ can be used as a voluntary or batch automatic system, and is the only one of its kind in the world to encompass both farming types.

At the heart of the automated system lies a central computer that uses a number of robots to perform teat preparation, milk cup attachment and teat spraying.
