Finland’s largest dairy farm equips itself with the country’s first automatic milking rotary (AMR ™) enjoying state of the art farm management

Finnmilk Ltd’s shareholders: Ari Teppo, and Katja & Juhani Korkiamäki are milk producers. Today, Teppo and Korkiamäki have more than 300 dairy cows and are currently using DeLaval VMS-automatic milking system.

“This represents the next step in a dairy farm work automation. It is key for us that cow welfare is always maintained and we feel that automation enables more time for accurate treatment of livestock and production management”, Solution Manager Olli Kasurinen from DeLaval Finland says.

“Finnmilk Ltd’s  – almost one hectare – large barn will be equipped with DeLaval capital goods, such as: a silo cooling tank, a separation system, automatic calf feeding, and animal welfare supporting stalling equipment. The systems are integrated with each other making their operation and maintenance easy to manage. We are proud of this co-operation with Finnmilk Oy”, Virrankoski adds.

DeLaval developed AMR ™, one of its main purposes is to develop the profitability of milk production, milk quality as well as animal health via a new type of automation and measuring technology. Pre-cleaning, teat cup attaching as well as post treatment are carried out by the robot arms. The first system of this type was introduced in New Zealand in 2010 and to date over 10 rotaries have been sold in selected countries.
